Hotspot issue
I have been using my iPhone 4 personal hotspot feature with my Xoom for a few years now. All of a sudden it has stopped working. As soon as I leave my house no outside connection to the internet. The Xoom sees my iphone with the hotspot turned on but it says "NO INTERNET CONNECTION" Any ideas?

Bluetooth and Torque OBD2 issues
I'm having a few Bluetooth issue and I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I have a odb2 bluetooth adapter elm v1.5 and the Bluetooth on the Xoom freezes every time the adapter tries to connect. The only way to fix it is to restart the tablet but it still does it everytime. My gs3 can connect to the adapter with no problem.
Now my phone has bluetooth v4 and the Xoom is running with Bluetooth 2.1. Is the issue I'm having a problem with my Xoom because the Bluetooth is to old for the adapter or just a hardware issue with my Xoom? The Xoom has 4.1.2 installed currently

Fast & Furious 7 to use CGI and doubles to keep Paul Walker in the film.
After the tragic death of movie star Paul Walker, everyone was wondering what will happen with the next installment of The Fast and Furious movie series. When it happened, the movie-shooting was already pretty far in, so any major changes or even starting over would have resulted in a big mess.
Similar as what is being done with the 3rd installment of The Hunger Games (link) and what was done in Gladiator (link), Paul Walker's character will continue to be in the movie with the help of a body double and special effects.

Last week, Virtual Reality got into the spotlight thanks to an updated version of the Oculus Rift development kit and the announcement of Sony's own VR system, Project Morpheus.
Apparently Facebook got some big ideas after that, and earlier this week, they announced the purchase of Oculus.

The new HTC One seems to beat everything of the old one, and if I was in the position of picking one now, I'm sure it will be a tough choice.

MovieGallery:
Earlier this week, I had someone ask me about how to use individual background images for movies with my MovieGallery Android video player app (available on Google Play NOOK apps Amazon Apps), and I realized that while I added the feature a while ago, I never updated the guide for MovieGallery to include it.

The zip-file contains a "sample" folder which contains the following files:

The sample-trailer mp4 video, "sample_movie" and its matching cover image, the "sample_movie" jpg file are what most people who use MovieGallery are used to. Of course the big thing with MovieGallery 2 is that it has a build-in cover feature, but the video file+image file combo of the same name has been in MovieGallery from the very beginning.
With the v2 update of MovieGallery, the "folder" image was added, as well as a background image that could be used for a folder, enabling you to display/browse your movies in an even nicer way,

but to enable you to personalize things even further, with the last update I added the ability to use individual background images.

To see how it works, make sure you have the latest MovieGallery (paid 2.4.x version) installed on your device and download the sample zip file (link), and copy the "sample" folder in it over to your Android device.
When you start MovieGallery, it will display, of course, the sample video with its cover image, and when you flip to it in the 2 large-image view modes, it will display the background image set for the sample video.
A week of Amazon Free Apps Of The Day:
Amazon's Free App system has its ups and downs, but this week the collection of apps was actually a bit better than usual. I included the ones from last week down below. Of course, since the Amazon Special is only one day, they are no longer free, but it does give you an idea as to what is being offered.
The Amazon App Store is of course required in order to benefit from these free apps. If you look for the same app on the same day on other app stores such as Google Play, Nabi Apps or B&N NOOK Apps, you still need to pay for them, so you will need to install the Amazon Appstore App on your device. For most devices, this is pretty straight-forward, but on the B&N NOOK HD and NOOK HD+, the process is unfortunately quite tricky.

Single Multi-Function Device or Multiple Single-Function devices?
Earlier this week, I ran into an interesting article on Engadget regarding the trend that technology is following these days.
Switched On: Return of the digital hub
In short it basically describes the path of technology in recent history, where things started with multiple single-function devices, and then moved towards our current smartphones that have multiple different functions available in a single device, but which is now moving back.
My first (back in 1999) "smartphone" was a combination of a "dumb" cell-phone with a "smart"-ish PalmPilot Pro. Pairing the 2 devices through infrared, I was able to use my smartphone as a dial-up modem and with it, I could "browse" the internet and even use chat-applications such as ICQ. It was a bit cumbersome, but it worked. From there, things started to become more integrated with devices such as the iPaq and the first Windows Mobile smartphone (2002). Since then, things started to move at a steady pace, but until the Motorola Droid and Apple iPhone were released, integration of multiple functions into a single device were still somewhat limited. Since the original Droid and iPhone, things have become somewhat saturated. Every new device released since is (usually) an improvement over the previous generation, but mostly by specifications alone.
With a smartphone that does (mostly) everything you can do on a full-blown computer, manufacturers are trying to come up with the next killer feature, and are now looking at the wrist. Last year, it was a company called Pebble that started the smartwatch craze, but in the current state, these devices are mainly just wireless screens for a smartphone in your pocket. It makes (for some) things a bit easier. Checking notifications, Facebook updates etc, without having to grab the phone in your pocket. Not really that useful, especially with phones mainly increasing in size to make them easier to read and more functional, they are redirecting the same information to a tiny screen. Thankfully, a few companies are looking in a different direction, health. Rather than trying to extend the phone to the wrist, companies are creating wristband-sensors that can monitor health-information such as heart rate.
Regardless, all those years of moving towards building the device that does everything, now we are moving back towards connecting multiple single-purpose devices together. I'm sure Scottevest, a company that once thrived on people using multiple devices with its line of clothes featuring pockets for everything, is getting quite excited :)
Amazon's Free App Of The Day.
A bit earlier (above) in this newsletter, I listed last week's Amazon's free apps. While the initiative is great, a few things I do have to mention regarding them though. There are some true gems among them, but some of them "were" gems when they first came out and have since moved on to newer revenue models. An app such as Doodle God was raved about in reviews when it first came out, but now, years later, it includes things such as social sharing, in-app-purchases and more. And while the actual game remains the same, these changes are quite significant, bordering on annoying.

A few questons about XOOM MZ601

I wanna buy this lot on ebay.
I live in Russia and have a few questons about it.
1. Russians 3G (HSDPA) frequency are 2100 MHz. In description of this lot specified that HSDPA frequency are 850 MHz. I ask seller about it, he says, that he dosen't sure about it, and it can be 850/1900 MHz and that I must search specification on the Internet. I google it and found some inconsistent results. For example there specified 2100MHz, but on some another sites I found 850MHz, 850/1900MHz. So I'm a little confused about it. Are XOOM MZ601 has many modifications with different HSDPA frequency or it some mistakes on specs? If second, what specs are correct?
2. On this forum I read, that another region XOOM dosen't work with another region SIM. For example: USA XOOM dosen't work with EU SIM-card. But it can be reflashed for another region. I look at this page and found EU firmware. But according description on that page EU region includes only UK, Greece, Romania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Ireland. I live in Russia and have a few questons about it.
1. Russians 3G (HSDPA) frequency are 2100 MHz. In description of this lot specified that HSDPA frequency are 850 MHz. I ask seller about it, he says, that he dosen't sure about it, and it can be 850/1900 MHz and that I must search specification on the Internet. I google it and found some inconsistent results. For example there specified 2100MHz, but on some another sites I found 850MHz, 850/1900MHz. So I'm a little confused about it. Are XOOM MZ601 has many modifications with different HSDPA frequency or it some mistakes on specs? If second, what specs are correct?
2. On this forum I read, that another region XOOM dosen't work with another region SIM. For example: USA XOOM dosen't work with EU SIM-card. But it can be reflashed for another region. I look at this page and found EU firmware. But according description on that page EU region includes only UK, Greece, Romania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Ireland. can't turn on wifi
After xoom restarting every 2 mintues on own, and not being able to turn on wifi, I did a factory reset. The xoom still cannot turn on wifi and restarts itself. ideas??

[GAME][FREE] Crazy Buildings - crazy puzzle game
I’m asking all dear users of galaxytabforums to check our game out.

We’re presenting you a simple and interesting arcade game. The main goal of the game is to build as high as you can, keeping the building straight and balanced.
Use figures and physics and don’t let the building crash.
You can take one figure at a time – tap on it and a blub around it will appear. This blub can be rotated by the circle edge and popped, just press at the center for it. After that the gravity will take toll. Figure will be able to fall, to strike other figures or to push them out.
Try to reach the record line: it is not as simple as it looks at the first glance. You should think over, use all of the figures and your own agility and stay within allotted time: after reaching first line you will be given only five seconds to put another figure!
We are a modest Ukrainian team from the town of Berdyansk without any financing or business relationships, but we create things with love.
It was hard for us to finish the game, especially at such difficult times for our country, that is why we will be grateful for any attention, any support, of course if you like our game.

Rookie Xoomer
Just got my 'brand new second hand' MZ604 and I love it. Still learning the 4.1.2 features. I'm new to the "tablet" arena but would love to know what the 4.4.2 KITKAT is all about. Is it really all that? :confused:
If so, where can I go to get my xoom upgraded?

The other day I was just going through some text files and one I opened was a list of all my passwords I had stored but unfortunally I didn't make a note of where it was and what it was called and now Im logged out of a site. I use the stock browser and Dolphin if anyone knows where and what this file is called I would be very much appriciated.

Xoom is completely dead :(
Hi everyone!
I really hope someone can help me, my Xoom turned off and would not turn back on. It has been like this for weeks now, I have traveled far and wide across the internet for answers before trying to post.
Usually it seems when peoples Xoom's die they can just hold the power button + volume up button for even up to 5 minutes and then it will work again, I have painfully tried up to 10 minutes with no response.
It still charges fine (LED turns green after a while), so it is not a charger issue as some have found.
The only sign of life I get out of it is; if I press the power button, it makes an extremely faint clicking noise, like a very small relay, coming from the main processor (I have the back off). It will make this noise with or without the AC plugged in.
I read on another forum the USB factory cable may be required (different to standard USB cable as pin-4 on the micro is +5V). As soon as I plugged this cable into my Xoom and my laptop, my PC said "Installing device drivers - Unknown Device" but failed to install anything. Since removing and inserting again, it does not try to install any drivers, I have even tried different computers, doesn't even click that a device has been plugged in.
I still have no sign of life with this cable. However, if I click the power button with this factory USB cable plugged in, there is no clicking noise as mentioned earlier. If I use a standard USB cable, the clicking noise is still there. So there is some kind of change with this factory cable plugged in.
Any help would be hugely apreciated!

Motorola XOOM MZ6001 SIM Request
I got my sim slot damaged three weeks ago. I had no issue using the wifi until today. I did a hard reset after a freeze session. After reset, the tab is requesting for sim insert. Sim slot is damaged, I am unable to log on to tab. How do I bypass to enable wifi...

just tried to turn on xoom that was working fine a few hours ago. got a frozen screen with Motorola Logo in middle and up top left it says: RSD Starting RSD Protocol Support. One wire: charger no conRnected or battery is not bweing charged... battery level: 71%
