I decided to subscribe here after having lurked around for quite a while, reading old posts on how to root and what to do with a xoom since i recently managed to get an old one.

I mainly subscribed because i am encountering a quite troublesome problem with an usb mass storage.
I'd like to know where should i post it and hopefully get some help since googling didn't help much.

USB mass storage, otg cable, trouble with usb hub, ps3 and xbox360 pads.

Hi, i bought an otg cable, and a usb hub and proceeded to connect an usb mass storage and a ps3 pad to play with some emulators.

The usb mass storage is seen as "read only" by my xoom and that prevents me from simply moving the roms in and out of my memory, on top of that leaving the roms on the mass storage doesn't work well because everytime the emulator needs to load something from the rom it unpowers all the gamepads i have attached to it.

The emulator and pads work great as long as i use roms that are saved inside the internal memory of my xoom...
I wonder if there's a way to fix the disconnection of the pads, having therefore a functional connection with the mass storage that does not compromise the pads or at least if there would be a way to render the xoom able to swap the roms in and out the mass storage, so that i'd load up the needed ones for the occasion without the need of a computer.

The Xoom is rooted with cyanogenmod 10.0.0-wingray (android version 4.1.2)

I also encountered another problem: on some apps if i connect two pads, the xbox pad overlaps the ps3 inputs while in some other apps it does not... i have no clue why it does that either.

Power issues (I think)

A friend gave me his old Xoom that his kid dropped. Ever since it was dropped, it won't charge or power on. As best I can tell, nothing is straight up broken. All cables are still connected and my multimeter says the battery is getting current. SOMETIMES the white charging LED comes on and it appears that it's getting current. However after 5 minutes or so, it goes dark again. At no point during any of this will it actually turn on. I've replaced the power cable and I've tried it with both the power adapter and using the dock pins.

Has anyone else seen this issue with the charging light? Does anyone know which contacts I could test to check for current? Can I just disconnect the battery and run it straight from power adapter?

What would be the next step in troubleshooting.

PS. If it's worth noting, when it's plugged in, the the Tegra 2 gets mildly warm (even if the charging light is off).

MZ604 stuck at colorful flake screen and can't recover

Hi
I'm not very familiar with Moto. I have this Xoom MZ604 tablet

Problem:

While working on the device is suddenly rebooted and went into the screen that comes right after the M logo one. Its a screen with colorful flakes moving. so it stuck there and don't continue.

Already Tried:


  1. PC recognize it only as a media player and double click that icon leads to empty directory
  2. I used the driver but I need to do some settings that requires the tablet interface (which I don't have)
  3. Booting into recovery mode fails. It goes into the dead like Android robot with the exclamation mark and the red triangle and then reboot.
  4. After rebooting, when I select "RSD" I get "Starting RSD protocol support 3" and two lines about the charge state, at stays there like forever, until manually reboot.
  5. Selecting fastboot gets me no where further than the "starting fastboot protocol support" screen.


So what is needed ?

Of course I need to get my table back to normal with least causalities. If I can at least get my things before I reset, that would be the second best solution. if resetting my tables is the only possible solution, then how is that done

Please do help me guys

Hi All,
First time poster to this forum. I'm working on a project where I would potentially need to procure a decent quantity of the Xoom MZ600 (the variant that includes the 3G/4G MiniPCie slot internally). Looking for new or near-new condition, fully functional/operational, though I don't actually need the 3G/4G MiniPCIe card installed, just the slot. Ideally I'd like to be able to get a decent supply available (25-50 units, potentially more), but I know that is unlikely since it has been out of production for a while. So let's start simple: can anyone point me in the direction of procuring any quantities of MZ600...starting with 5-10 units, and working up from there?

Best Most Stable ROM / Setup

I get the xoom's are long in the tooth (I have two of them). I have run the latest CM and the latest Omnirom and messed with some different kernel's. What I want to do now is use these as secondary streaming devices (to stream to stereo, etc) and let my kids beat them up. Is the most stable ROM the stock? The tablets are ridiculously slow and so I am ready to pitch them. What would be the last ditch effort you would do (which rom, etc) before giving up on them?

Hi, I just acquired a used xoom. Thankfully it just needed a charge and seems to work well. I am having trouble downloading from the Play store but that might be the old OS?

Anyway, I would like to update to the latest, I think, Jellybean? And then see if that fixes it and go from there.

Would someone be so kind as to point me to the definitive thread for updating? My build is HLK42B, Kernel version: 2.6.36.3-g6963abe

It has "Verizon" on it and I found the option for LTE under mobile networks. With that can I assume I have the MZ602 or MZ600?

My original 4G Xoom finally gave up the ghost, so I have some un-needed accessories. Willing to give them up for the cost of shipping. Most impressive is the HD speaker doc, but I think I could also find one or two charger docs and a leather case I didn't like very much that I will toss in the box if I can find them. Will give away for the cost of shipping. PM or post here if interested.

UK Xoom (3g Wifi) - stuck at boot animation

I don't think I will likely get much support on the official motorola forums so copying and pasting here (hope that is ok, this is my first post as signed up specifically to post this, even though been guest reading for some time now).

Hi guys,


I'm really stuck and really lost. I'll clear a few things up straight away, this is a stock unit, not been rooted or flashed etc.


First noticed that it wouldn't turn on after it had turned off for some reason (usually if low battery then it the LED would flash red, which didn't happen). Struggled and struggled to turn it back on, made sure it was charged to green LED etc and eventually after multiple combinations it turned on, been using it since and in the past 2 weeks it has frozen solid another 2 times, however have been able to get working again and use the tablet.


This time, I finally got it working, now it just sits at the red logo with the rings. I managed to get to recovery to do a factory reset but afterwards it still sits at the boot animation.




I've attached some photos of what was displayed during the factory reset.


I really need to get this working, I have no experience in flashing or rooting - I know some things say stick new images etc on it but looking at the dates etc, I think I need to make sure I have recent instructions.


If someone successfully helps me out of this mess, as I can't afford to buy a new tablet (still need to replace a dead phone so cost is an issue atm), I would be more than happy to paypal a beer over!

Google Translate Broke, Suspect July 30, 2015 Update

Hello! Xoom, 4.1.2 Not rooted. Today is Aug 3. Google Translate had an update on July 30, 2015. I use it a lot. I think I last used it successfully around July 25. Tried using it yesterday, 2 Aug. It tries to start...the screen turns completely white for about 3-5 seconds, then one of the 5 screens appears...the ones with the app icons. Yes I have rebooted, uninstalled, re-installed, yet it still won't work. It "does" work on my wife's Galaxy Tab 2.

Frozen while downloading book

While trying to download kindle book, Xoom stopped and would not open. I could read book on other android devices. Tried uninstall and re-install. No change. Also tried to delete book, but always shows book for few seconds and then returns me to my home screen. Xoom is working on all other apps, except the Kindle one. can anyone offer a suggestion to resolve this?

A challenge

Hi all.

Here's my unit info:
Model number: MZ604
Android Version: 3.0.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.336.3
a22916@il93lnxdroid47 #1
Build number: H.6.2-21-demo.1301358186

The unit is a demo. I only paid 5 bucks for it, 12 bucks for the charger. If can't upgrade it, it's no great loss. There is an available software upgrade to Honeycomb 3.1 64.0.20.en.CA

I've tried downloading it. But it won't install. There is the Android image onscreen with a yellow triangle and an exclamation point. From that point, I have to reboot using the power button/up volume method. When it reboots, the demo loop comes on and a message that the upgrade failed.

My next step was to go to the Motorola site. The support person was very nice and gave me some advice. The factory reset failed to remove the demo. The next step was to try the factory reset using the external keys. There, I found an interesting issue. Instead of the expected "RSD, Fastboot, Android Recovery" options, I got RSD, Fastboot and NvFlash. At this point, Motorola support seems to have no clue.

I talked to some geek friends of mine. One suggested I root it. The process, to be really honest, looks confusing. I've done some research on it and I have more questions than answers. I'm hoping someone with the patience of a saint can give me guidance. Also, the unit will not read a Lexar 16 GB SDHC card. I formatted it to Windows FAT 32 and inserted it by shutting the unit off and putting the card in. It doesn't show up in "Settings/Storage" It works in my camera so the card is good.

Ok, my novel is finished. I ask for your help and apologize in advance for the mistakes I'll make in this endeavor :)

Hiya

After having iPads for forever (work related) I left that job and realized I still had a tablet around the house. Found my Xoom and charged it up. Was stoked when it opened and I did a factory reset and started setting it up.

For some reason, it won't allow me to connect or download anything from the Google Store. Something about the OS being out of date my Verizon guy said. Is there any way around it?

Would love to know.

Thanks in advance, I have a six year old who would love to play minecraft again :)

how to download OS on wiped Xoom

please help. I was given a Motorola xoom from a family member who received it in a trade. The tablet was rooted and was running very slow so I tried to reset it with minimal knowledge of how to do so. subsequently I accidently wiped the entire tablet and now when restarting it wont go passed the dual core technology startup logo. If possibly can someone please tell me or lead me to the steps needed to be taken to install the operating system to allow the tablet to function.
